Academic WorldQuest Competition

January 04, 2016

On Saturday, November 21st, over 250 students from 26 schools on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai, and the Big Island competed in PAAC’s Academic WorldQuest Competition, testing their International IQ in six rigourous categories.  The Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation generously sponsored the event, as well as the grand prize. The competition was decided in an exciting tie breaker round between Waiakea High and Seabury Hall.

Waiakea High was victorious and will represent Hawai`i in the National Competition in Washington, D.C., this April. Students commented that competing “expands their view of the world” and taught them “teamwork and responsibility.” 87% of the participants said they would follow the news more after participating!

“Our state WorldQuest experience was new and challenging, but fully worthwhile. It has not only piqued our interest in international affairs, but greatly expanded our knowledge of the world.”
